Uncharted Waters #1

This was Erik's last completed collection. The pieces range in size from 24"x36"x5" to 34"x70"x5". In his own words:

Fish are beautiful and soothing. Meditative. Their patterned scales glisten like underwater jewels and precious metals.
Yet they are still primitive, prehistoric. The earliest life forms on earth began in tide pools and oceans,
sea creatures evolving into land creatures. We too begin in fluid, our earliest forms resembling fish with gills that metamorphose into lungs.

My Uncharted Waters fish are fantasies, painstakingly assembled one bead or chain segment at a time.
The background water patterns are sculpted, and each fish has a magnifying lens at its center, revealing something within.
They are a celebration of beauty, and an exploration of our origins, our state of flux,
and the connection between what was and what will be.
